This week Noah has been working through Unit 19 of Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory. We have finally finished up the book Stories of the Pilgrims. The last story in the book described a Sabbath of the Puritans which brought on a very interesting conversation at the dinner table about how our church days are different from theirs and also about how the original Sabbath wasn't on a Sunday at all but started Friday night and went through Saturday night :)
For our poem this week we read Monday's child. Noah was sick this day I took a picture so he didn't get too into illustrating it but he did school anyway so I was quite proud of him :)
Math has been going well also. Noah finally has gotten to the end of Singapore math 2A and so we have ordered 2B and he can't wait to start it. He is still working on finishing up remembering all of the multiplication facts for 3, but he is picking it up fairly quickly and division of 2's and 3's is going pretty well also. Hopefully we can get those memorized and they will stick well for him better than our subtraction facts that are a little rusty right now
We also have finally finished up our Mystery Novel Detectives in Togas. It was a pretty exciting fact, but I didn't care too much for the ending :( Oh well, overall it was a pretty good read for both of us. We were really suppose to finish the book next week so we are trying to finish up another book, The Trumpet of the Swan we have been doing for a while to fill in our little gap. Our next read aloud is suppose to be a nonfiction selection so that will go over pretty well because ds is a nonfiction nut!
These are pictures also of Kayla and Brie. They both had to be in on the illustrating of the poem Monday's Child. This is actually Brie's first drawing that contained something other than just circles or scribbles :)
LHFHG Unit 5 day 1-3
Kayla is doing somewhere between half pace and full pace for Little Hearts. She is really enjoying school this week. The thing that topped the chart for her this week were the Rhyme in motion "God Sent Ten" and making quails. She loved doing this so much she spent early Saturday making a flock of quails :) and elephants and paper boats and we tried an origami bird but it didn't quite work out ;)
Math is also going well. I purchased the Horizons 1 book to kinda supplement Singapore 1A since I don't want her to start 1B until her first grade year :) She does really seem to like math atleast. She will walk around the house asking me if I knew x+y=z.
