Noah is plodding away at school and for the most part I think he enjoys it so here is what's been going on...
MATH: Singapore has been our "spine" you could say right now. He is in lesson 43 of book 1A and likes it pretty well. I have been using MUS that a friend of mine had given me. We are in lesson 8 of it and working on memorizing out +8 facts. He has +0, +1, +2, and +9 down pretty good so that is great. We also picked up the first book in the Life of Fred elementary series. He LOVES this book. It is cute how the stories go and he is learning a lot from them. I'm not sure how the higher level books are, but if they are anything like this I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time with Fred :)
LA: Well, we have pretty much figured out what to use for this all encompassing subject :)
We are working through readers 2 regular that go with Sonlight's program. We have been reading the beginner's bible and really enjoying it. We also are using AAS for spelling/phonics work. WWE is our writing program and FLL is our grammar program. They are all pretty simply and straightforward so I really like that.
SCIENCE: We have picked back up SL's science A. I bought it last year and didn't really use it. We tried Apologia but I just couldn't stick with it and the kids kinda thought it was boring. Anyway, Noah and Kayla both can do it since it is able to be used for kids around 5-7 or so. It's nice to be able to combine them in some way.
HISTORY: We are working through Core B of Sonlight. The first 6 weeks are learning more about cultures and their houses. Noah really likes these Usborne books, but I can't wait till we get to the meatier part of World History which we should hit in a few weeks.
BIBLE: We are using the bible program that also goes along with Core B. I really like the books and the memory CD's. They are great to play in the care and we all get to learn them. We are working on Psalm 1 right now. The only down side is it in in KJV I believe and I try to stick with NIV just to keep all the bible memory work a little more consistent if I want to flip through the bible :)
Kayla also has been doing some school work. She is working her way through 100 EZ lessons and doing very well. I have been working with her a little on writing some letters too. She is currently on book D of Rod and Staff's preschool book. She is learning to write some of her numbers too. The public schools starting has really motivated her to want to learn I think since her neighbor is in K and the other one goes to HeadStart for Pre-K. Whatever the reason I am glad she is having fun learning some :)
