March update

Wow, time sure has gone by quickly! So I haven't been too faithful to update the kids progress so here we go:
Noah
Core: We are back to using Sonlight's Core K, which actually is being renamed Core A :) Hopefully not too confusing. We are currently on week 24 and it is going really well! We have been reading the book In Grandma's Attic. It is really a great book and we have enjoyed it a lot. History is going well and so is bible. We have been reading through the Bible and using some Rod & Staff readers to go along with Bible/reading.
LA: Well, we are on our last reader for LA 1. He is only on week 29 in LA, so we are off a little, but that is okay. Noah made up his own Green Egg's type of story the other day and it was very cute. Spelling is getting a little better and he is doing well with his copywork. Noah still is reluctant at times with writing, but I know he can do it. We also finished up Handwriting K with A Reason for Handwriting.
Science: We have been using Sonlight's science K mixed with Apologia's Astronomy. I am not sure which I like more, but it is all very interesting. The kids love the experiments with Sonlight's kit and the DVD that goes along with it.
Math: We are done with Horizon's K program!!! Thank you Jesus. He has done well with it but he again has issues with not wanting to write. That is okay I know he can do it, so we do some orally so not to overdo it at times.

Now, I am excited that I have ordered for next year, or whenever we are done already before the prices go up for next year. We will be doing Core B with Readers/LA 2 regular (or whatever they are renaming the readers/LA). We are also going to try out Singapore math. I have heard so many great things about it that I just had to give it a try. We just got it in the mail today and Noah really enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't as hard as Horizons or that much writing so that was nice. I also started out with book 1A instead of 1B so he could have it a little easy. We may move a little quicker than normal right now, but I think he deserves it :)

Now, onto Kayla...Kayla has decided that she wants to do school so I have loosely started doing some work with her :)
Core: We are going through P4/5 right now With LA/Readers K. We are going very slowly and will most likely redo it again. I have also done some of 100 EZ lessons with her and Singapore EB book. We are about 50 pages through the math and on lesson 20 or so with EZ lesson. I think she has motive to get out of taking naps so she thinks doing school will do it...not working on me though :)

I also ordered a piano book to teach both of them some and Noah is about to test for his yellow belt in TaeKwonDo. So, lots of fun, lots of work, and having a blast while we are on this journey.

  1. I'm so jealous you're done with math! LOL We're on Lesson 101 right now. We really like Horizons and I've already bought the one for 1st grade. I'm already looking forward to the next school year but I suppose we should finish this one first. :)
